@kingslyj They allow you to use laptops and other devices, but never ask you to ensure that your wifi is switched off.

@ray1claw Incorrect. Traditional North Karnataka banana-leaf-plate meal.

@kingslyj @geohacker In all these discussions my original question got lost. Even if there *is* interference, what’s wrong with flight-mode?

via Twitter for Mac in reply to kingslyj

@kingslyj We need to talk to an airline / radio communication expert. @geohacker

@Sengupta Right, but surely they wouldn’t limit themselves to EMV cards given that they are still getting popular. @geohacker @kingslyj

@geohacker If the ATC is making such regulations, there has to be some merit in that. Why would they otherwise make this rule? @kingslyj

via Twitter for Mac in reply to geohacker

@kingslyj Well, maybe they use the same satellite based connection to process your card payments (via internet)? @geohacker

@kingslyj Some international flights that offer in-flight internet, what technology do they use? @geohacker

via Twitter for Mac in reply to kingslyj

@turmericdesign Spotted a Mata Vaishno Devi ₹5 coin in my wallet. No idea where I got that. Feel free to pass around the one in your drawer.

@kingslyj Do they allow card payments? No idea.

@AviShastry @harisibrahimkv @kracetheking In that case we can use SQLite which creates an in-memory db, which is of course much faster.

via Twitter for Mac in reply to AviShastry

@AviShastry @harisibrahimkv @kracetheking Unless you’re doing unit-tests that don’t do DB operations, some code might try to hit the DB.

via Twitter for Mac in reply to AviShastry

@peeleraja I thought about that but it didn’t make sense. In any case they don’t check if the phones are actually switched off. @hallidude

via Twitter for Mac in reply to peeleraja

@harisibrahimkv Also, you’d want to run the tests on pristine (and predictable) data. Your test data is a part of the test. @kracetheking

via Twitter for Mac in reply to harisibrahimkv

@harisibrahimkv The database gets destroyed after the test. So you’ll lose data. @kracetheking

via Twitter for Mac in reply to harisibrahimkv

@harisibrahimkv Agree with @kracetheking there. You can load a fixture on your test database each time.

Was told by my flight crew yesterday that as per a new circular, phones must be “switched-off” and cannot be kept in “flight-mode”. Why so?

@fotuzlab @rasagy Appreciate the feedback at the end of my talk. Hope to budget in more time and effort if there’s ever a next time. :)

@rasagy Make that a cupcake-vada thaali. :p

@arpiit I have the traditional steel tumblers. The stove top moka pots produce more espresso-like decoction than filter coffee like.

Red velvet cake slice kept for me at home. Makes up for @rasagy’s failure at keeping aside a cup cake for me at .

I’ve had a soft corner for Hatti Kaapi for a while, so picked these from BIAL. Time for filter coffee experiment. pic.twitter.com/3oex1fCRUl
